October 29 is the final FUNdraising Friday and features the first ornament in the Oviatt House Holiday Ornament Collection, and honors the inspiring story of the Oviatt family.
This hand-crafted “Follow the North Star” ornament features the North Star quilt pattern and highlights the brilliant North Star in the center set against the dark night sky. The attached compass charm symbolizes how the freedom seekers followed the North Star as their path to freedom.
Each ornament comes in a gift box and includes a card which explains the Oviatt story, the ties to the UGRR, and the significance of the North Star quilt pattern. Ornaments are $15/each with all proceeds going toward the restoration of Oviatt House. |
Other items for sale for this fundraising event include:
Custom scented candles made by Emily Savioli, owner of Stitches and Stowaways in Richfield. The “Apple Orchard” candle, made especially for Oviatt House, celebrates the apple orchards once abundant on the property. Each hand-poured candle smells like a fresh cut apple straight off the tree and comes in a ceramic container reminiscent of an antique crock. These soy-based candles are 8-ounces each and will burn for approximately 20 hours. Candles are $15/each with a percentage of sales going toward the restoration of Oviatt House. |
Holiday direct ship wreaths and accessories. These hand-crafted, specially decorated wreaths, centerpieces and garlands are made with fresh evergreens picked daily and cold stored to preserve their freshness. Wreaths recall the nostalgia of simpler times and make wonderful gifts! This program offers 11 different items direct shipped anywhere within the contiguous United States and enables shoppers to choose from up to four shipping weeks between mid-November through early December. |
