​Phase 1 Restoration began on October 2, 2021 with a team of restoration volunteers led by Ken Bowman, retired Historic Preservation Carpenter for the National Park Service.

• Removed:
  
  • Debris and non-salvageable items
    
  • Non-original closest, bathrooms, and walls
    
  • Non-original siding, fireplace, & chimney
    
  • Non-original addition and exterior doors
    
  • Old insulation and rotted flooring
• Restored room and original chimney by Homeland Building & Design 
• Repaired rotted sill plates
• Restored and painted the original siding
• Investigated and determined the original floor plan
• Rebuilt walls and doorways to match original layout
• Installed new HVAC, electric service, gas service, and electrical wiring
• Installed new custom milled supplemental flooring 
• Restored the exterior sandstone foundation
